We all know that stress can cause mental and physical sickness.

We also know that gratitude is an antidote to depression.

Self reflection is the first step towards taking an honest assessment of how we’re feeling and understanding why we’re feeling what we’re feeling.  By pausing and reflecting we can face the things we fear about ourselves as well as celebrate our accomplishments.  Doing this builds resilience and helps us to see the world more clearly and less clouded by our own judgement.

Take 15-min for this end of week  self-reflection

Let’s begin

Take a moment to think back: what happened those past 7 days? Use your calendar etc. to help your memory. This is only for you. Be brave and honest with yourself. And: enjoy.

  1. What / who do you feel grateful for this week? Why?
  2. What would you consider a highlight of this week? How did it make you feel? What was your contribution? Who else contributed and in what way?
  3. How can you have more highlights, winning, positive moments and feelings?
  4. What was a lowlight, something embarrassing, where you felt shame, or that you feel you messed up? What is something that worries you? Yes, go deep, go bold.
    1. What circumstance, lack of (skills, support, energy, focus,..) led to this?
  5. How to mitigate or reduce those behaviours, or “lack of” in a similar situation in the future? How can you help yourself? How can others help you?
  6. Draw a bell curve like the one below. Plot how stressed you have felt this week. All the way to the left is “bored”, all the way to the right “burned out”, the peak of the curve is the sweet spot, the healthy stress.
  7. Take a moment to say “Thank you” to yourself for taking the time to reflect. You are amazing, courageous, brave. Make the choice to be a better version of yourself tomorrow, than you have been today.
