Communicating and Leading Across Cultures

The Culture Map Training - Cultural Awareness for Global Teams

A hands-on workshop inspired by Erin Meyer’s The Culture Map. Learn practical ways to communicate, collaborate, and lead across cultures, so your team moves with more clarity, trust, and ease.

Global teams don’t struggle because people lack skill or effort. They struggle because cultural norms shape how we give feedback, make decisions, and signal agreement. And no one talks about it. What feels direct to one person feels harsh to another. What feels respectful to one teammate feels unclear to someone else.

This workshop gives your team the shared language and practical tools to name those differences, work with them (not around them), and collaborate with more honesty, confidence, and connection.

Sometimes you can feel that communication isn’t quite landing the way you expect.  Conversations take more effort, feedback hits differently, or small misunderstandings slow the work.

This workshop gives you the shared language and practical tools to make sense of those moments and move from tension to clarity.

Grounded in Erin Meyer’s The Culture Map, you’ll learn how cultural norms shape collaboration and how to turn those insights into clearer communication, better feedback, and more confident decisions.

You’ll learn to:

  • Recognize how communication and feedback styles differ across cultures.
  • Adapt your message so it lands with clarity, empathy, and respect.
  • Build inclusive decision-making habits that balance speed and fairness.
  • Understand your own cultural preferences and how they influence collaboration.
  • Reduce friction and strengthen trust in global and hybrid teams.

Approach and Methodology

You can’t change what you can’t name.  This workshop helps you name it and practice new ways of working with it.

Expect a mix of reflection, practice, and real conversation. We’ll map how culture influences communication, feedback, and decision-making and turn those insights into practical habits your team can use right away.

Through guided reflection, cultural mapping, and facilitated discussions, you’ll:

  • Uncover your own assumptions,  blind spots and preferences
  • Practice adapting your style to reach alignment faster.
  • You’ll also take a closer look at your company’s feedback culture, exploring how feedback really flows, where it gets stuck, and what it would take to close the gap between your current and desired culture.

The Impact Advantage

You’ll leave this session with a clearer language for cultural differences and a stronger rhythm for how you communicate and collaborate. You’ll be able to express yourself with more clarity, give and receive feedback with more trust, and make decisions with more confidence across cultures.

You’ll notice the impact in how you:

  • Speak up with more confidence and empathy.
  • Build alignment faster in meetings and projects.
  • Turn cultural differences into creative advantages instead of friction.
  • Strengthen connection and engagement across locations.
  • Lead with more cultural awareness and relational intelligence.

To help you keep applying what you learn, you’ll also get:

  • A Miroverse template you can use to run your own culture-focused workshops and retros.
  • A practical workbook you’ll use during the session and come back to as you build new habits.

This isn’t about theory. It’s about what happens in real conversations and meetings, and how to make them work better for you and the people you work with.
